Before it was Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera, it was Tiffany vs. Debbie Gibson. Back in the late 80′s, Tiffany and Debbie battled it out for the hearts, minds and souls of pop fans as the dueling teen pop stars competed for pop supremacy. This Summer, after All This Time of wasted Electric Youth, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson will lay down their arms and perform TOGETHER for the first time ever!

Live Nation is pleased to present Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, together for the very first time, at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on July 29 at 8 pm. Merrick’s Debbie Gibson rose to fame while still in high school. Her debut single, “Only In My Dreams” was released in the summer of 1987 and was followed in the fall by “Shake Your Love.” Out of the Blue her debut album was released that fall and by the spring of 1988, the title track had climbed to number three on the charts. With the release of her fourth single, “Foolish Beat,” Debbie Gibson became the youngest artist to write, produce and perform a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. ”Lost in Your Eyes,” the first single from her sophomore effort, Electric Youth became her biggest hit, staying at number one for three weeks. In addition to her recording career, Debbie Gibson has starred on Broadway in “Les Miserables” and “Beauty and the Beast.” She starred in London in the West End production of “Grease” and toured nationally in “Grease,” “Funny Girl,” and appeared at the Paper Mill Playhouse in “Gypsy.” More recently she was seen in her second SyFy film “Mega Python vs. Gatorid” with Tiffany as her co-star.

TIFFANY is back! …to her roots. The dynamic voice of the 80s has returned to where it all started for her, country music and the Nashville music scene. Now a critically praised songwriter, Tiffany is set to capture your hearts again…with her new album of country/rock tunes! Tiffany began her career at the age of 13 when she signed her first recording contract with MCA. The self-titled debut album was released in 1987 and eventually went quadruple platinum. The innovative “Mall Tour” that followed proved to be the signature for Tiffany’s early career and was very effective in targeting her core audience of young teens making Tiffany the youngest female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard charts. Tiffany produced three top ten hits, two of which were national and international #1 pop singles “Could’ve Been” and the celebrated “I Think We’re Alone Now.” The soon-to-be teen pop phenomenon, New Kids on the Block, got their big break as the opening act for her world tour. Tiffany released her second album, Hold An Old Friend’s Hand, which went double platinum and featured the top ten hit “All This Time.”

I would just DIE to see these two perform together. It’s unclear if this show is a one-off performance or if they are planning to hit the road together but if New Kids on the Block can go on tour with Backstreet Boys, then I don’t see why Tiffany and Debbie can’t do the same. In about 30 years, I full expect Britney and Xtina to do this very same thing … but for now, I’d totally settle for Tiff and Deb :D
